Nathan Tamar, 15 months, died from stab wounds inflicted by his father, Mokhtar (aka Robert) Tamar (48). Nathan’s mother, Rachel Jones (40) had recently separated from the 12 year relationship with Tamar after he had started drinking heavily. On the evening of 31 August, Tamar first attacked Ms Jones with a hammer, then taking their son into his flat, stabbed Nathan several times resulting in Nathan’s death. Tamar then stabbed himself and died from self inflicted wounds.

MOTHER PAYS TRIBUTE TO BABY SON
A mother has spoken of her “devastating loss” after the body of a man and baby boy were found in a flat in Hampshire.
Robert Tamar, 48, and his 15-month-old son, Nathan, were discovered by police officers in Fivefields Close, Highcliffe, Winchester, on Thursday.
Post-mortem tests have revealed the pair died from multiple stab wounds.
In a statement Rachel Jones said Nathan was “a very happy little boy, very contented and always smiling and cheeky”.
She added: “Everybody loved him and no-one had a bad word to say about him.
“I am devastated by his loss and he will be very much missed.”
A woman arrested over the deaths has been released without charge.
Ch Insp Steve France-Sargeant, of Hampshire Constabulary, said: “The community needs to be reassured that we aren’t looking for anyone else.
“Their support with our house-to-house inquiries as they are ongoing at the moment would be much appreciated.
“I understand there was some kind of dispute, but I can’t say any more than that, at the moment that’s the information that I have.”
Neighbour Avril Elms, 48, said Mr Tamar lived in the flat with his partner and their young son and described the family as “friendly, jolly, a good laugh, good friends”.
“I can’t believe it. I feel for the baby and him. I hardly slept at all. It does play on your mind,” Mrs Elms added.
Her husband Stephen, 49, said: “We were friends with them, shared birthdays, dinners. As far as I know they were happy together. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.”

DAD KILLED SON IN ‘SAVAGE MURDER’
A drunk father stabbed his baby son to death before killing himself with the same knife, an inquest has heard.
Mokhtar Tamar, known as Richard, 48, of Winchester, Hampshire, attacked his ex-partner Rachel Jones, 40, outside their home before snatching his son.
The court heard how 15-month-old Nathan tried to shield himself from his father, who later killed himself, but he died of stab wounds on 31 August.
Coroner Grahame Short described Nathan’s death as a “savage murder”.
Winchester Coroner’s Court heard how Miss Jones had left Tamar, who was taking sleeping pills and anti-depressants, after a 12-year relationship, because he had begun drinking heavily.
She described Tamar as “generous, kind and considerate” and an “excellent father.”
But she said when she dropped Nathan off at his father’s house in August, she realised he was “moody”.
She added that she tried to leave but Algerian-born Tamar started to attack her with a hammer and took Nathan away.
Miss Jones fled to a neighbour’s house and called the police.
‘Violent and uncontrolled’
Nathan was found on his father’s bed with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, and defensive injuries to his hands.
Tamar was found in the doorway of his first floor flat with stab wounds to his heart.
Grahame Short, central Hampshire coroner, described Nathan’s death as a “savage murder”.
He said drink was a considerable factor in the deaths and added Tamar had become “violent and uncontrolled”.
“He loved his son but there is no doubt Robert Tamar stabbed his son while lying on his bed,” he added.
A verdict of unlawful killing was recorded for Nathan’s death and a verdict of suicide was recorded for Tamar’s death.
Speaking after the inquest Miss Jones said: “I miss Nathan so much. He is still with me in so many ways.
“I hope that this will bring a little extra closure to the horrendous ordeal I have been suffering since my son’s tragic death.”
